This is the reconstruction and reconfiguration of postwar two-storey house, 100m2 approximately, in the region of Thission in Athens. The architect Minas Kosmidis addressed to Area Domus for the needs for furniture, lighting, wardrobe and special wooden structures. Beside the restoration work which had to be done for the statics of the building, the configuration of the far spatial organization was another significant intervention of the study. The building was to be bought by the new owners because it had an important advantage (besides its location)- the back of the second floor had a view of the Acropolis.
The aim of the study of the house was the exploitation of that view and how it would be able to become the most important element in the final spatial configuration in order to serve the owners both interns of their needs and in terms of aesthetics. All this was achieved, to a maximum, through this study and its application afterwards. The wants and the aesthetics of the owners as well as the architect’s were concurrent. A monochromatic was created, in the shades of the earth shell, natural materials were used, non-sterile, where furniture, items, memories can coexist harmoniously, without affectation.
In the living room the sofa is from Frighetto (mod. Paramount) synthesis of coffee-tables (mod. Fergana) from Moroso. Carpet Series Reloaded Moroso. all bought from Area Domus. The dining table made of walnut (mod. Cronus) and suspension light (mod. Five) which is part of the furniture & light which are designed and constructed in Greece by Area Domus. The lighting was studied for showing the building both inside and outside but with respect to the region of Thisio, the monument of Acropolis, the atmosphere that is brought by the building. Beyond the use of professional lighting systems available to the Area Domus, the owners used luminaires company Gras.
